Description

Antique little campaign or tea table with detachable top and folding base, made in India around 1910 probably. Very nicely carved with grape leaf designs etc in a dark stained hardwood, probably teak. Condition is pretty good structurally: it's sound though one side panel has a few bits missing (see pics) and there is the odd chip elsewhere. There's a small wooden bar missing under the top (pictured) but the other seven still hold the top in place fine. Cosmetically there are various marks, dings and scratches etc and it's a little dusty in the intricate parts of the carved top. Initially I thought this was a later reproduction, entirely based on the hinge screws being cross-heads, but having looked at comparable ones I'm fairly satisfied it's an original, and further inspection showed that the screws and possibly hinges had been replaced at some point. If I'm wrong, it's still a high quality hand made piece, but I don't think I am wrong.. Price reflects condition Dimensions: 53cm x 52cm x 55cm high
